Daycare centre „Rosenweg“

Brief information:

The “Rosenweg” daycare centre is located in the Niederhöchstadt district of Eschborn. It was built in 1967 and has since been renovated and modernized several times.
The establishment works inclusively and consists of a kindergarten area with three groups of 25 children each and an after-school care area with 40 children of primary-school age.
The pedagogical team consists of a pedagogical leader, an administration manager, 15 car-ers and at times a carer completing their induction year.
There are also 3 housekeepers who prepare meals and make sure that everything is clean.

The 3 group rooms in the kindergarten area have several playing levels which offer the chil-dren opportunities to retreat.
The children are assigned to fixed groups, but can also play in other groups if requested. Each group has books, craft tables and board games.
The groups have different single purpose areas. In the cat group, there is a computer, a building corner with “playmobil” toys, a media corner and a comfy corner. In the bear group, there is a dressing-up and doll corner, a toy shop, cork building blocks and an aquarium. The dinosaur group has a building area with wooden toys, a doll house, a puppet theatre and a comfy corner.
In this way, we provide the children with the sense of belonging, emotional security, structure and stability that we feel is necessary, and also offer the incentive to move in new areas and discover new things.
Main points of pedagogical focus in the kindergarten include the holistic encouragement of individual personality development, the encouragement of independence and social behav-iour and the development of the childrens’ individual imagination and creativity. Fundamental democratic experience is provided in the children’s conference, which takes places every Friday and during which the weekly rota is discussed with the children and their wishes and concerns are voiced.
We carry out “Faustlos”, a curriculum for the encouragement of social and emotional compe-tence and for the prevention of violence.
Our exercise project with the “TuS Steinbach”, the weekly activity day, where children meet for 3 months and work on a particular subject, and the music group are activities for all groups aimed at children aged four and above.
Pre-school children take part in weekly pre-school meetings. Our positive cooperation with the Westerbach school makes the transition to school easier for the children.

The children in the after-school care clubs use all the areas and activities according to their interests. The “casino” serves as lunch room and offers a place for board games. The build-ing area, the dolls and dressing up area, craft area, reading area, computer and table football are distributed in the other 3 rooms.
Pedagogical focal points in the after-school care club include the encouragement and ac-companiment of personality development, the encouragement of independence and social behaviour and the experiencing of fundamental democratic values and co-determination.
Independence is a fundamental aspect, especially in preparation for the time following the after-school care club and after the fourth grade. In order to use opportunities in the after-school care club such as the craft room and computer independently, the children earn ac-cording diplomas. In agreement with the parents, there are certain contracts that allow the children to access areas outside of the after-school care club, such as the playground or the kiosk. Homework is also done independently, and pedagogues are present during homework time. The children’s conference has been developed further as a fundamental democratic experience in the after-school care club area. It is prepared and conducted by the elected after-school care club spokespersons. The children bring forward their requests and ideas, leisure activity is planned, subjects which the children are concerned with are discussed, conflicts are resolved and courses of action are devised.
Our exercise room offers many incentives for exercise and is used in equal measure by kin-dergarten children and children in the after-school care club, just like our craft room.

Our appealingly designed outdoor area offers many possibilities of exploring, playing, trying things and daring to investigate with all senses.
